Proven Results

The record is operational. Not projected.

VIE monitors 800+ transformers across data centers, utilities, renewables, oil and gas, and industrial facilities on four continents. Every proof point on this page reflects actual deployment experience — not a modeled projection, not a laboratory result, and not a theoretical outcome from a commissioned study.

One sensor failure. Zero gateway failures. Since launch.

Findings

What an Independent Study Found

An independent KPMG study analyzed 995 days of transformer operational data across a fleet of more than 700 medium and high-voltage transformers at U.S. data centers. The study produced the most comprehensive empirical dataset on data center transformer failure economics available in the public domain.

01

Zero VIE-monitored transformers failed.

Over the entire 995-day observation period, every transformer failure occurred in the unmonitored portion of the fleet. Not one transformer with VIE sensors installed experienced a failure.

02

Failure rates dropped as VIE installation rates rose.

As VIE sensor coverage expanded across the fleet, fleet-wide failure rates trended downward. In 2025, the failure rate for non-monitored transformers reached its highest recorded level. The monitored fleet moved in the opposite direction.

03

Three years of data project $41 million in savings.

At the observed 1.79% annual failure rate, KPMG modeled $41 million in projected three-year savings across five categories: reduced replacement costs, repair savings, maintenance and labor reduction, SLA penalty avoidance, and reduced diesel generator expense. ROI at the empirical failure rate: 178%.

A Fleet Deployed Across Four Continents

VIE sensors are operating today across a geographically diverse fleet — from utility-scale solar sites to hyperscale data centers, industrial facilities, and power transmission infrastructure.

Every deployment listed is an existing installation on transformers of varying ages, makes, and voltage classes. VIE works on any transformer — wet or dry, any size, any vintage.

In Deployment: What VIE Finds

Validated by KPMG. Trusted by leading operators across electric utilities, data centers, oil & gas, and renewable energy.

Illinois Data Center Fleet

An independent analysis of 50 data center transformers identified six critical issues that had gone undetected through conventional monitoring: Deformed Windings, Core Looseness, Insulation Degradation, and Oil Contamination. Every fault was identified by VIE prior to any failure event. None of the monitored transformers experienced a failure during the observation period.

When Online DGA Says Healthy and VIE Says Otherwise

In one documented case, a transformer at a major data center facility was cleared as healthy by a recent dissolved gas analysis test. VIE flagged the same asset as at-risk. A subsequent inspection confirmed the VIE alert was correct. The online DGA test had missed a developing fault that VIE’s continuous mechanical and thermal monitoring had detected.

This is the gap that periodic testing cannot close. Chemical signatures do not appear until the fault has progressed. VIE detects it earlier — before the chemistry changes, and before the failure window closes.

FM Approvals Selects VIE for
Pilot Monitoring Program

FM Approvals — the testing and certification arm of FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial and industrial property insurers — selected VIE Technologies for a transformer monitoring pilot program in 2026.

The deployment covers transformers at FM Approvals’ facility and is structured around biweekly technical reviews with VIE’s engineering team. That a property risk testing organization chose VIE for its own transformer infrastructure is a meaningful indicator of where the industry’s understanding of transformer risk is moving.

The Platform Behind the Results

70% of U.S. power transformers are over 25 years old. Failure is not a question of if — it’s a question of when, and whether you see it coming.

Sensor Reliability: 99.95%

One sensor failure across the entire deployed fleet since launch. Zero gateway failures. The monitoring record is continuous by design — not by exception.

Asset-Specific Baseline

VIE learns each transformer’s individual operating patterns within 30 days of installation. Detection is measured against the asset’s own history, not a generic fleet average.

No Disruption to Install

Every installation in the fleet was completed on an energized transformer. No de-energization. No shutdown. No production interruption.

Autonomous and Continuous

The platform operates without scheduled tests, lab turnaround, or specialist site visits. The record builds automatically from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is VIE currently deployed?

VIE sensors are operating across data centers, power transmission infrastructure, renewables sites, and industrial facilities in the United States, South Africa, India, and Mongolia. Every deployment is on existing transformers of varying ages and configurations.

How is VIE’s prediction accuracy measured?

VIE’s 95%+ prediction accuracy reflects the platform’s track record of correctly identifying developing fault conditions across the deployed fleet. It does not reflect a model input assumption or a projected figure — it is derived from operational data.

Has VIE ever missed a failure?

Zero transformers with VIE sensors installed experienced a failure during the 995-day KPMG observation period. The platform’s continuous monitoring architecture is designed to detect fault signatures weeks to months before failure — allowing planned intervention before the failure window closes.

What does VIE produce as a documented record?

The VIE platform generates a continuous, timestamped record of every health data point, alert, and maintenance event from the moment sensors go live. Records are exportable for audit, compliance, and due diligence purposes.

The Record Speaks for Itself.

800+ transformers. 99.95% sensor reliability. 99.99% gateway reliability. Zero monitored transformer failures in 995 days of independent observation.

VIE is not a pilot program promise. It is a deployed fleet with a documented record.
